Our Services
We are a state of the art facility. Our facility provides following services:
PREVENTIVE HEATHCARE:

We believe in disease prevention. It is much less expensive to prevent disease then to treat disease. Our preventive health care is focused at preventing infectious diseases, age related diseases and pet parasites( internal & External parasites).

Vaccination: Vaccination protects pets against various life threatening infectious diseases.
Vaccination is started in pups and kittens at 6-8 week age. Puppy and Kitten vaccine series are completed at 12 week age in kittens and at 16-weeks of age in puppies. There after vaccines are administered to pets on 1-yearly or 3-yearly basis depending upon type of vaccine. Each pet needs different vaccines.
There are 2 type of vaccines (Core vaccines and Non Core Vaccines).Core vaccines are mandatory for all pets. Non Core vaccines are optional vaccines. Every pet need different non-core vaccines based on chances of pet's life style, prevalence of disease in the area and pet's exposure to disease .Our Veterinarians can help you in selecting appropriate non-core vaccines for your pet(s).

Canine Vaccines
Core Vaccines : DHPP Vaccine (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza vaccine), Leptospira vaccine and Rabies Vaccine.
Non Core Vaccines: Bordetella vaccine (kennel cough), Canine influenza vaccine (Canine flu), Dental vaccine(for breeds susceptible to dental disease), Rattle snake vaccine(for pets residing in rattle snake infested areas). It is very difficult to save life of a pet bitten by rattle snake.Rattle snake bite to an unvaccinated dog is usually life threatening and treatment can be expensive. Even some treated pets die.

Feline Vaccines
Core Vaccines : FVRCP Vaccine (Feline viral rhinopneuminitis, calicivirus) and Rabies vaccine.
Non Core Vaccines (only for outdoor cats): FELV Vaccine(Feline leukemia vaccine).Other rarely used non-core vaccines are Feline immunodeficiency virus vaccine(feline AIDS) and FIP vaccine(feline infectious peritonitis vaccine).
Ferrets: Ferrets need Rabies vaccine and distemper vaccine. These are special ferret only vaccines. Regular feline vaccines are not recommended for ferrets because of serious vaccine reaction concerns.

Parasite Prevention and treatment program:
There are 2-types of parasites in pets:
1.Internal parasites
2.External parasites

Internal parasites: Intestinal parasites(roundworms, tapeworms, whipworms, hookworms, pinworms, flukes etc.),coccidia, Giardia and Heartworms. Some Intestinal parasites like roundworms, and giardia can be transmitted from pets to people. Most of these parasites are transmitted through feco-oral route. Hookworms can penetrate through intact skin. Tapeworms and most flukes need intermediate host for transmission. Most common intermediate host for tapeworms is flea or rodent ingestion.
Prevention of Intestinal Parasite transmission: The Center of Disease Control recommends annual fecal testing for all pets. Some parasites like tapeworms and whipworms may not show up on fecal testing, therefore anual de-worming with broad spectrum de-wormer is recommended for all pets. Hand washing is highly recommended to pet owners before eating meals to prevent intestinal parasite transmission.
Heartworms: Heartworms (Dirofilaria Immitis) are transmitted by mosquito bite. Heartworms are known to cause serious illness and death in pets. Female heartworms produce harmful toxins. It takes 6-months for female heartworms to mature and produce antigens. Hence, heartworms do not show positive for first 6 Months after infection. We follow the guidelines of the American Heartworm Society and recommend annual heartworm testing .We recommend first heartworm test for all dogs at age 7-9 Months and on annual basis thereafter.
Canine Heartworm disease Prevention: There are multiple oral and topical medicines available to protect pets from heartworms. Veterinarian can help you in selecting the best product for your dog. All these products are supposed to be given to pet(s) once a month. Heartworm antigen test is most reliable to diagnose canine heartworm disease.None of the heartworm preventive product is 100% effective. Heartworm disease has occasionally been reported in some dogs which were on regular preventive heartworm medicines, therefore annual testing is necessary even when they are on regular monthly heartworm prevention.

Puppies can be started on monthly heartworm prevention at 8-week age. Heartworm test is not necessary at this early age to start heartworm prevention. If pet is around 6-Month age, it is important to perform heartworm test prior to starting them on heartworm prevention.

External Parasites: External parasites include fleas, ticks, mange or body mites and lice .They can cause serious illness in pets. Fleas and some species of mange or mites can cause serious health issues in people. We recommend regular flea prevention by encouraging application of monthly topical flea control products on your pet's skin. Tick prevention by topical medicines is recommended if your pet resides in tick infested area. Fleas transmit tapeworms and feline bartonella infection (cat scratch disease) to cats. Cat scratch disease is communicable to people by stratch or bite by infected cat. Ticks can transmit many diseases including rocky mountain spotted fever, ehrlichiosis and lyme disease in pets and people.

We recommend flea and tick prevention by using topical flea and tick products on pets skin every month. Applying such products after you see parasites on the pet will kill the parasite but, not help to treat infection that may have already been transmitted to pet(s) from bites of those parasites.

Every pet with visible parasites or Pruritis(itching) should be examined by a veterinarian and treated appropriately.

DENTISTRY
Dental disease (gum or tooth infection) is major cause of systemic illness in pets. Tooth infection can lead to internal organ diseases like pancreatitis, liver disease, infection of heart valves, and kidney disease etc. We recommend once a week tooth brushing for all pets to prevent dental disease. When tooth brushing fails to prevent or remove tartar from your pet's teeth, advice should be sought from your veterinarian to discuss professional dental cleaning under anesthesia. PET LOSS AND RECOVERY
It is not uncommon for pets to get lost or separated from their owners. We have RFID microchips available for pets. Microchips are implanted under the pet's skin / between the shoulder blades. The procedure is simple and can be performed when your puppy or kitten comes to us for routine preventive care. If a pet is micro-chipped, it can be scanned by scanners at our hospital. The ID number can be cross referenced in the database, and the pet owner can be contacted for a reunion with their pet. Micro-chipping a pet is very affordable, simple, and quick to perform. It is the most effective method of reuniting owners and lost pets. We recommend microchips for every dog and cat.
